Inside the Svalbard Global Seed Vault

At 78˚N in the Arctic Circle lies the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a gigantic structure that houses Earth’s largest single collection of seeds. Developed by Cary Fowler of the Global Crop Diversity Trust and constructed 390 feet into the core of a permafrost mountain, the vault is intended to stay secure for thousands of years.
